The Tanzania House of Talent (THT), in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health’s Department of Curative Services, undertook a crucial nationwide communication and advocacy campaign aimed at controlling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Tanzania. Launched under the slogan “Usijisahau, Jali Afya Yako” (Don’t Forget, Take Care of Your Health), the campaign was strategically designed and implemented to address the rising prevalence of NCDs by promoting healthier lifestyles among Tanzanians.
Objectives of the Campaign
The campaign had clear and measurable objectives focused on encouraging Tanzanians to adopt behaviors that prevent NCDs, including:
- Designing, Producing, and Distributing Communication Materials: THT was responsible for creating impactful communication materials that highlighted the importance of physical activity, healthy eating, stress management, and minimizing sedentary behavior. These materials were distributed widely across various media channels, schools, workplaces, and community centers.
- Engaging Influential Figures to Amplify Communications:
- Monitoring and Evaluating Campaign Impact: and adjust strategies as needed.
Implementation and Impact
THT’s approach to the “Usijisahau, Jali Afya Yako” campaign was both comprehensive and innovative. By leveraging a mix of traditional and digital media, as well as on-ground activations, the campaign reached millions of Tanzanians, effectively raising awareness about NCDs and the importance of adopting healthier lifestyles.
